Fallback Identity Provider

The fallback identity provider is available on the Documaster document handling solution (Albert), from version 2.13.0

For installations using Entra AD (Microsoft) or other identity providers, you can choose to set up Documaster IDP as a fallback identity provider should the primary identity provider become unaccessible/fail etc

The fallback solution will ensure that you will be able to continue accessing and storing documentation in your Documaster installation

Preparations

1. Order activation of the backend setup by contacting support@documaster.com

Our support team will have the setup configured, and confirm back to you as soon as it's ready. You will also receive documentation on how to perform the switch, which can be executed at any time, without involving Documaster/support.

2. User groups

In order for a switch to Documaster IDP you must make sure the necessary user groups are present in both Documaster IDP and your access groups in your installation

3. Users

Also make sure that users are updated in Documaster IDP, at a minimum administrators and Documaster IDP Administrators

Activating the fallback identity provider

If you at any time need to activate the fallback identity provider, follow the directions in the documentation you have received (from step 1 above). If the documentation is not available to you, contact support@documaster.com for assistance.

In short, the procedure is as follows:

  • A Documaster IDP admin must log in to Documaster IDP to perform some adjustements
  • Then all users must manually delete their *bff* cookies to force the new login

The change can be reversed by the Documaster IDP admin when the primary identity provider becomes available again.
